Apply for and manage SNAP
Your state agency handles applications, cases, EBT support, changes, and renewals. Find its official information here.

Start with your state SNAP office
SNAP applications and case questions go through your state agency. Choose your state to find its official application, website, phone number, and EBT information.
How to apply
- Start with your state. Use the state picker above to open the official application. Depending on your state, you can apply online, in person, by mail, or by fax. Do not wait until you have every document to contact the office about starting an application.
- Complete the next steps. Give the information your state requests about your household, income, and bills. Complete an interview if required. Ask for help if you cannot get a document or need an interpreter.
- Read the decision. A decision usually takes no more than 30 days. If approved, your notice explains your amount and when you must renew. Keep the notice and follow any deadlines.
Need food soon?
If you have very little money, you may qualify for SNAP within 7 days. Tell your state office when you apply and ask about faster help. The office checks whether you qualify. While you wait, find food help near you.
Your state may ask for proof of who you are, where you live, your income, and bills such as rent, utilities, or child care. If someone is 60 or older or has a disability that meets SNAP's rules, include medical costs insurance does not pay. Ask which documents your state accepts.
Yes. Ask your state office about help with the application, an interpreter, or help because of a disability. You can also ask how to name someone you trust to help with your application and case. Find local application help.
You can ask for a hearing to review a SNAP decision. You generally have 90 days to ask. Read your notice right away: a shorter deadline may apply if you want benefits to continue during the review. Ask whether continued benefits could have to be paid back. Contact your state office using the details on your notice.
Manage your benefits
Check your case or report a change: Contact your state SNAP office. Follow its rules and deadlines for reporting changes.
Renew benefits: Your state will tell you when to renew and what to send. Read each notice and respond by its deadline so your benefits do not stop because of a missed renewal.
Get EBT help: Use the official state EBT contact for your card or balance. You can also check a recent receipt or an official state app, if available.
My SNAP Benefits cannot submit an application, view your case, or access your EBT account. For immediate food support, find help near you.
